Note:

¹Based on infant deaths reported as of April 23, 2021. Births reported as of April 14, 2021.

Rates are per 1,000 live births.

Preliminary Infant Death Statistics: Infant deaths for 2020 count all deaths reported to the state by April 23, 2021, and processed through the Michigan death certificate system. This count may exclude those records without an official cause of death, or deaths of Michigan infants who died out-of-state. Prior years suggest that the number of deaths reported in April for the state are about 98% complete. Completeness of reported infant deaths varies by counties; counties bordering other states are more likely to have late reported deaths.
