Cancer Cluster Reports

The National Cancer Institute defines a cancer cluster as the occurrence of a greater than expected number of cancer cases among a group of people in a defined geographic area over a specific time period. This may mean several cases of a rare cancer, or an exceptionally large number of common diseases such as breast, prostate or lung cancer. The Michigan Cancer Surveillance Registry, together with your local health department and other state agencies, investigates cancer clusters. If you suspect your community is part of a cluster, please contact:

Tumor information was collected by the Michigan Cancer Surveillance Program (MCSP), which participates in the National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

This Michigan cancer statistics website was supported by Cooperative Agreement Number 1, NU58DP006334-01-00, funded by the CDC. Its contents are solely the responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily represent the official views of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

In 2020, MCSP received the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR) for 2017 cancer incidence data.
