Total COVID-19 Deaths & Historical Three-year Average Deaths By Week
Michigan Occurences, January 1, 2020-February 3, 2024

This graph shows the average deaths for three years, compared to the current deaths, by week. 
				      Starting in late March, COVID-19 deaths pushed the total number of deaths to about 35% over what was expected.

Note:

2022-2023 data is provisional. Deaths reported to the Michigan Vital Records office may be delayed by 7 days. Verifying the cause of death, and processing the records from adminstrative records may further delay the reports of deaths for statistical purposes.The deaths shown in the deaths columns will be lower than the actual year-to-date total.

COVID-19 deaths are those deaths coded as ICD-10 U07.1 as an underlying or related cause of death.
