Notes:
Hospitalizations are inpatient hospital stays as measured by stays that were completed
during the specified year. The number of hospitalizations is often greater than the number of persons
hospitalized since some persons are hospitalized more than once during a year.
Days of Care are the number of patient days accumulated at the time of discharge by a patient.
A stay of less than 1 day is counted as 1 day in the summation of total days of care. For patients admitted
and discharged on different days, the number of days of care is computed by counting all days from (and including)
the date of admission to (but not including) the date of discharge.
Average Length of Stay are the number of days of care accumulated at the time of discharge by patients
hospitalized during the year divided by the number of these hospitalizations.
