Note:  Weeks of gestation is the calculated number of weeks corresponding to the time elapsed since the date of the last regular menstrual period and the date of the abortion. The reporting of procedures used conforms to national recommendations issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In abortions where more than one procedure was performed, the principal procedure was determined according to the following hierarchy: hysterectomy/hysterotomy, sharp curettage (D&C), saline injection or prostaglandin, dilation and evacuation, medical (non-surgical), suction curettage and other procedures.
