Haveman Announces Longton Director of Mt. Pleasant Center
Michigan Department of Community Health Director James K. Haveman, Jr. today announced the appointment of Kenneth Longton as Director of the Mt. Pleasant Center, following the retirement of George Garland.
Longton has been serving as acting director at Southgate Center since June 1, 1998. Prior to that, he served as Director of Residential Services and Nursing at Mt. Pleasant Center. Longton earned a B.S.N. degree from New York Regents College and an Associate Degree in Applied Sciences, Registered Nurse from Kalamazoo Valley Community College.
"Ken's experience and knowledge of working with persons with developmental disabilities
and understanding of the mental health system uniquely qualify him for this important position," said Haveman. "With his management and leadership abilities, the Mt. Pleasant Center will continue its strong tradition of providing quality care for Michigan's citizens."
Longton's appointment as Director of the Mt. Pleasant Center is effective February 21, 1999.
