Haveman to Address National Assertive Community Treatment Conference This Evening in Detroit
Michigan Department of Community Health Director James K. Haveman, Jr., will address the National Assertive Community Treatment Conference this evening at the Westin Hotel at the Renaissance Center in Detroit. Haveman will deliver introductory remarks at the dinner which is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) programs have been highly successful servicing individuals with serious mental illness who historically ceased receiving treatment and taking their medications. It has been highly effective at keeping people in treatment and improving their quality of life, virtually eliminating homelessness for those individuals who are receiving this treatment.
Michigan has more Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) programs than any other state in
the nation.
The National ACT conference begins today and concludes on Friday.
