New Director Named at Clinton Valley Center

Dr. Shobhana S. Joshi has been named as the new director at Clinton Valley Center in Pontiac. The announcement was made today by Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) Director James K. Haveman, Jr.

"Dr. Joshi has played a critical role at Clinton Valley for several years," Haveman said. "I have great confidence that the programs and services at Clinton Valley Center will continue to be further strengthened as a result of her leadership."

Prior to being promoted to the role of director, Dr. Joshi was chief of clinical affairs at the center. She was responsible for managing all clinical departments in the 300-bed state-operated psychiatric hospital. Dr. Joshi also provided oversight of clinical policies, procedures, accreditation, certification, and staff development.

Previously, Dr. Joshi managed and supervised psychiatric services as the center's director of psychiatric services in 1993-94 and managed community placement services for individuals with severe mental illness as the program director of community residential services in 1990-93.

Dr. Joshi, who received her M.D. from the University of Bombay in India, succeeds Neil Wasserman, who now directs the Hawthorn Center in Northville.
